History In 2009, Christian Duval presented the idea of using the accelerometer in smart phones to assess abnormal tremors to Benoit Carignan and Jean-Francois Daneault, both graduate students in Dr. Duval’s lab at the time. One year later, they developed a prototype with the help of Carl-Eric Codère, a specialist in the development of smartphone application security and design and presented a poster at the Society for Neuroscience meeting in San Diego entitled ‘Using smart phones to detect abnormal tremor’.
